Material Researcher
As a designer, my practice lies at the intersection of sustainability, material innovation, and storytelling, driven by a deep commitment to rethinking how we interact with the built environment, materials, products, and the natural world. My work blends science, design, crafting solutions that address pressing environmental challenges while fostering a deeper connection to the materials and spaces around us.
A core aspect of my design philosophy is the belief that sustainability and creativity are not mutually exclusive but inherently interconnected. By drawing inspiration from nature’s systems and fostering collaboration across disciplines, I aim to develop solutions that align with ecological principles while meeting human needs. My designs strive to foster symbiosis—between humans and nature, between individuality and collective purpose, and between innovation and inclusivity.
The foundation of my methodology is an experimental collaborative approach, rooted in curiosity and respect. Experimentation allows me to push boundaries, question conventions, and explore uncharted possibilities in design. It’s about embracing uncertainty, taking risks, and seeing failure not as a setback but as a vital part of the creative process. By remaining curious, I stay open to learning and discovering unexpected solutions, letting ideas evolve naturally through iteration and hands-on exploration. Collaboration is equally integral to my practice. I view design not as an isolated act but as a collective endeavour that grows through shared perspectives. Whether working with scientists, engineers, community members, or artists, I believe that true innovation emerges when diverse voices and disciplines come together. Respect serves as the foundation of this approach—respect for the people I work with, the communities I design for, and the natural systems I draw inspiration from. Designing with respect means valuing the input of collaborators, honouring cultural and historical narratives, and approaching materials and environments with care and intention. This respect fosters trust, ensures that designs are rooted in empathy, and leads to solutions that are not only functional but also meaningful and sustainable.
My fascination with materiality transcends the tangible. I am inspired by the stories embedded in materials and places, I see design as a form of storytelling, where materials become carriers of environmental and social impact. Materials carry memory, culture, and identity, and I aim to reveal and amplify these qualities in my work.
Ultimately, my practice is a reflection of my vision for a world where design not only solves problems but also tells stories, creates connections, and drives positive change. Whether working with materials, communities, or systems, I seek to create work that is functional, thought-provoking, and emotionally resonant; reimagining materials from a holistic place.
